  • Brad Hawpe went 3-for-3 with 2 RBI and 2 runs scored, and Matt Holliday hit a two-run home run as the Colorado Rockies pummeled Mark Buehrle and Jon Garland en route to a 12-4 win over the White Sox.

  • Starters Curt Schilling and Matt Garza looked sharp, and Joe Mauer was in mid-season form hitting a 3-run homer as the Red Sox and Twins battled to a 4-4 tie.

  • Yoslan Herrera pitched two hitless innings, and Don Kelly collected 2 hits, scored 2 runs, and added 2 RBI as the Pirates knocked off Manatee Community College, 8-1.

  • Adam Wainwright threw three no-hit innings, and Rick Ankiel went 2-for-2 with two RBI as the Cardinals beat the Florida Marlins and a shaky Scott Olsen, 6-3.

  • Ryan Langerhans hit a solo home run, Tony Pena went 2-for-3, and Yunel Escobar had a pair of hits and scored a run to lead the Atlanta to a 5-0 victory over Georgia Tech.

  • Ryan Raburn homered, Marcus Thames went 2-for-3, and Andrew Miller struck out 4 in two scoreless innings as the Tigers defeated the Mets, 5-4. Oliver Perez allowed 5 runs on 4 hits in 2 innings of work for New York.

  • Chase Utley hit a 3-run homer, and Chris Dobbs added a 2-run shot to help the Phillies to a 12-4 win over Florida State University.

  • The Giants are expected to announce as early as Thursday that they have agreed to terms with right-hander Matt Cain on a four-year contract with an option for a fifth year.
  • The Indians signed nine players to one-year deals Wednesday, including third baseman Andy Marte, expected to be Cleveland's starting third baseman. They also reached agreements with catcher Kelly Shoppach, infielder Joe Inglett, left-hander Juan Lara, right-handers Fernando Cabrera and Edward Mujica and outfielders Ben Francisco, Shin-Soo Choo and Franklin Gutierrez.
  • Oakland Athletics outfielder Bobby Kielty needs arthroscopic surgery on his left knee and will be sidelined for 3-6 weeks.
  • Milwaukee’s Gabe Gross suffered a mild strain of his right hamstring Wednesday running the 60-yard dash for time.
  • Marlins left-handed reliever Taylor Tankersley has tendinitis in his throwing shoulder and said he does not expect to be ready for the start of the regular season April 2.
  • Bobby Jenks left Wednesday's Cactus League opener against the Rockies after facing just three batters in the fifth inning with what is being called tightness in his right shoulder.
  • Giants slugger Barry Bonds told San Francisco's KGO Radio that he is receiving death threats.
  • The Atlanta Braves announced today that they have agreed to terms with 10 players on one-year contracts for the 2007 season, including right-handed pitchers Manny Acosta and Tyler Yates; catchers Brian McCann and Brayan Pena; outfielders Gregor Blanco, T.J. Bohn, Matt Diaz and Ryan Langerhans and infielders Pete Orr and Scott Thorman. Financial terms were not announced.
  • The Devil Rays signed RHP Ruddy Lugo and 1B Joel Guzman to one-year deals.
