According to ESPN, (via MetsBlog.com) the Mets are on the verge of signing free-agent LHP Scott Schoeneweis to a three-year deal.
Free agent Esteban Yan has agreed to terms with the Hanshin Tigers of Japan on a one-year contract. The Kansas City Royals acquired pitcher Russ Haltiwanger from the Cincinnati Reds in exchange for infielder Jeff Keppinger. The Detroit Tigers have invited Cameron Maybin to Spring Training as a non-roster invitee. The San Francisco Giants have signed free-agent right-handed pitcher Russ Ortiz to a one-year contract for the 2007 season. San Francisco Giants relief pitcher Tim Worrell announced his retirement today after a 14-year Major League career. The right-handed hurler had one year left on a two-year contract signed prior to the 2006 campaign, however he was forced to end his playing career due to neck and shoulder injuries. Broadcast reports out of St. Louis are indicating that Mark Mulder has re-signed with the Cardinals. More information as we get it. |
