View Article  Astros Sacrifice for Lamb
The Houston Astros announced today that the club has signed infielder Mike Lamb to a one-year, $2.7-million contract, plus incentives. The announcement was made by General Manager Tim Purpura.

Lamb, 31, hit .307 (117-381) with 12 home runs and 45 RBI in 126 games for the Astros in 2006. He also collected 22 doubles and three triples while posting career-high totals in runs scored (70), slugging (.475) and on-base pct. (.361).
View Article  Florida Agrees to Terms with Dontrelle Willis
The Florida Marlins tonight announced they have agreed to terms with left-handed pitcher Dontrelle Willis on a one-year contract for the 2007 season. The announcement was made by Marlins Executive Vice President and General Manager Larry Beinfest. The deal is said to be approximately $6.5 million.

”We are pleased to have Dontrelle under contract for the 2007 season,” said Beinfest.

Willis, who turned 25 on Jan. 12, was 12-12, 3.87 in 34 starts last season. For his Major League career, Willis is 58-39, 3.44 in 127 starts and is the Marlins all-time wins leader.
View Article  Indians Sign Miller, Outright Sikorski
The Cleveland Indians today outrighted RHP Brian Sikorski to AAA Buffalo. Sikorski, who was designated for assignment on January 4 when the Indians signed RHP Keith Foulke, has accepted the assignment and will be a non-roster invitee to Major League camp when pitchers and catchers report to Winter Haven, FL on February 15.

Also today, the Indians signed RHP
Matt Miller to a 2007 Major League contract, avoiding arbitration. OF Jason Michaels, RHP Jason Davis & RHP Rafael Betancourt are the only other members of the club’s 40-man roster who are arbitration-eligible.
