Jimmy Rollins won NL MVP Award today as he narrowly edged out Colorado Rockies outfielder Matt Holliday. Rollins became the first player in history to collect at least 200 hits, 25 homers, 15 triples and 25 steals in a season. Overall, the switch-hitter batted .296, with 38 doubles, 20 triples, 30 homers, 94 RBIs, 41 stolen bases, 212 hits and 139 runs scored.   more »
View Article  Indians Call 3:30 PM ET Press Conference to Announce Kobayashi
The Cleveland Indians have called an afternoon press conference announce the signing of Japanese pitcher Masahide Kobayashi. Kobayashi, 33, has spent his entire nine-year career with the Chiba Lotte Marines, the team managed by Bobby Valentine. He has averaged 31 saves the past seven seasons.   more »

Much like the work previously done on Jay-Dell Mah's At the Plate rookies and prospects page, I have started to combine all the 2007-2008 top prospect lists from around the web and placed them into one Excel file. I have uploaded and attached the file to this blog posting. It will remain here and be updated as new lists appear across the web. Top prospect lists from BP's Kevin Goldstein, Baseball America, and John Sickels are just some of those that you'll find in the file. The Excel workbook contains several tabs at the bottom representing each of the league's divisions as well as a tab for top 100 lists and the top 20 lists from Baseball America.   more »
