The San Francisco Giants have re-signed shortstop Omar Vizquel on a one-year deal worth $5.5 million with a vesting option for $5.2 million for 2009 if he plays in 140 games in 2008.

The Philadelphia Phillies have acquired Astros closer Brad Lidge and infielder Eric Bruntlett for outfielder Michael Bourn, reliever Geoff Geary and Class AA third baseman Mike Costanzo.

The Phillies will now presumably closer Brett Myers back to their rotation.
