The Tampa Bay Rays have dealt outfielder Elijah Dukes to the Washington Nationals in exchange for left-handed pitcher Glenn Gibson. "We have been committed to providing Elijah the support needed to get his personal and professional life back on track," said Senior Vice President of Baseball Operations Andrew Friedman. View Article  Hall Of Fame Veterans Committee Makes Selections
Two voting committees have elected five managers and executives to the National Baseball Hall of Fame through the 2008 Veterans Committee election for managers, umpires, executives and pioneers. Managers Billy Southworth and Dick Williams are joined by executives Barney Dreyfuss, Bowie Kuhn and Walter O'Malley as Veterans Committee selections for the class of 2008. The five electees, along with any electee(s) to emerge from the Baseball Writers' Association of America vote on January 8, will be inducted into the National Baseball Hall of Fame on Sunday, July 27, 2008 as part of Cooperstown's annual Hall of Fame Weekend. CHICAGO – The Chicago White Sox have acquired outfielder Carlos Quentin from the Arizona Diamondbacks in exchange for minor-league first baseman Chris Carter. The White Sox also have designated left-handed pitcher Heath Phillips for assignment.   more »
