View Article  Fantasy Analysis: A.L. East

We resume our fantasy look around the league today with Craig Brown's analysis of the American League East. Is Dice-K the real deal? Will Alex Rodriguez bounce back with an MVP season? And will Delmon Young keep his head on straight?

Be sure to see what Craig has to say about this and a lot more in BDD's A.L. East Fantasy Analysis.

  • It appears everyone went to Spring Training this year. That’s not a bad thing, however. That just means more eyes on the action and more perspective. Marc Hulet at Baseball Analysts has some stories of his trip here and here. Dan Fox was in town as well, and we just missed each other. Dan has a nice recap over at BP
  • Geoff Young’s book is almost ready to buy. Save a little cash for this one. It’s going to be good! Sandy Alderson even wrote the foreward!
  • He’s already given us the interview with Rickey Henderson. Now Martin is back on TalkingChop with Tom Glavine. Check it out.
  • Jim Caple over at ESPN.com runs down some of the best places to be at Spring Training in Florida and Arizona. It’s funny. A few people told me to go to the Pink Pony for dinner and/or drinks. When I went there it was crowded, but even more surprising was the fact that most of the patrons looked like they were over 70 (years-old) that is. Not that it’s a big deal. I just thought it would be more of a “sports fan” crowd.
  • I don’t mind bloggers, or anyone else for that matter, being critical, but this critique is just ridiculous. Who the hell really cares? And how do you call the Nationals ownership suckers after having control of the team for a whole 9 months?
  • Ok, now I’m on a bit of a rampage…I’m sorry, but there’s no way that Cameron Maybin has less upside than Chris Young, Adam Jones, or especially, Colby Rasmus...as Chris Constancio wants us to believe. Maybe one day Chris will give us a little more insight into his secret formula for prospects. For now, I’m not buying it. I’ve seen him play and talked to the kid. He’s got as high a ceiling as any young outfielder in the game.
  • This is actually a very interesting article about the abolishment of aluminum bats. While I sat at the ASU-Long Beach St. game on Sunday and listened to ping after ping, I couldn’t help but wonder how college pitchers feel. I can’t prove that aluminum bats are more dangerous than wood bats, but the sound is certainly more intimidating. That’s for sure.

I've made it back to New York safe and sound and took a day to reaquaint myself with my family. Now it's time to get back to business here at BDD.

Beginning tonight we will start posting our AL fantasy analysis. I'll also be recapping my trip to Arizona. Later on in the week, I'll take a look at some of the prospects I had a chance to watch in the Cactus League. I'm obviously not a scout, but I'll give you my thoughts on what I had a chance to see.

In the mean time, head on over to the gallery and check out all the new albums. Bill Richardson is down in Florida taking some great photos of the Grapefruit League action. And don't forget to visit TalkingChop.com where Martin Gandy chronicles his daily ventures around Braves camp.
