View Article  Minor League/Prospect Portal is Live!

In the spirit of Jay-Dell Mah's At the Plate rookies and prospects page, we present to you BDD's new web site portal dedicated entirely to the minor leagues, rookies, and prospects. We will cover news, notes, links, and of course, top prospect lists!

As many of you know JDM has taken a leave of absence from his website. So, with Jay's blessing, we've decided to pick up where he left off.

You may access the new minor league portal by going to the main page at www.baseballdigestdaily.com and scrolling over the "Minors" menu tab. From there, you'll be able to check out all the news and prospect lists.

If you have any questions, comments, or suggestions, please let us know. We're not aiming to replace JDM. We just want to continue his tradition of great work and provide a place for minor league enthusiasts to get their daily fix. Enjoy!

Andruw Jones sent the Braves fans home happy with a 3-run walk-off homer on Monday

  • Gary Sheffield reached base 3 times, homered, scored 3 times, and drove in 3 runs, and Magglio Ordonez reached base 4 times and drove in 2 to lead the Tigers to an 8-4 win over the Orioles. The game saw both benches clear in the 5th inning when Detroit’s Jeremy Bonderman nearly hit Baltimore’s Miguel Tejada.
  • Jason Bay hit a solo home run in the 8th inning to break a 2-2 tie as the Pirates came from behind to edge the Cubs, 3-2. Rich Hill pitched another strong game for Chicago, and Zach Duke did a respectable job for Pittsburgh. Neither pitcher received a decision.
  • Chipper Jones homered and reached base 3 times, but it was Andruw Jones’ 3-run walk-off home run that was the big blow as the Braves sunk the Phillies, 5-2. Tim Hudson allowed just 2 runs on 4 hits over 8 innings for the Braves, while Jon Lieber yielded one earned run in 7 innings for Philadelphia.
  • Jeff Suppan picked up his 4th win of the season with a complete game 8-hitter as the Brewers beat the Cardinals, 7-1. Kevin Mench had a triple, scored twice, and drove in 2 runs, and Prince Fielder hit his 6th home run of the year for Milwaukee. Skip Schumaker had 3 hits for St. Louis.
  • Roy Halladay was brilliant as he ran his record to a perfect 4-0 with the Blue Jays 6-1 win over the Rangers on Monday. Halladay pitched a complete game 5-hitter and allowed just one run while striking out 8. Matt Stairs had 3 hits, Aaron Hill hit a home run and drove in 3, and Troy Glaus reached base 3 times, homered, scored twice and drove in 2 for Toronto.
  • Alfredo Amezaga homered and had 3 hits, and the Marlins erupted for 5 runs in the 3rd inning and 2 more in the 4th off Mets starter Chan Ho Park as Florida knocked off New York, 9-6. Carlos Beltran went 4-for-5, and Jose Reyes collected 3 hits for the Mets in defeat.
  • Vladimir Guerrero stroked 2 doubles and drove in 2 runs, and John Lackey allowed just one run over 6 1/3 innings as the Angels nipped the Royals, 3-1. Ross Gload had 2 doubles for Kansas City.
  • Jake Peavy had a strong outing on the mound for San Diego, but John Patterson did him one better, allowing just one run on 4 hits in 6 innings to lead the Nationals past the Padres, 3-2.
  • Chris Young hit 2 home runs, had 3 hits, scored 2 runs, and drove in 3, and Carlos Quentin reached base 5 times and scored twice as the Diamondbacks manhandled the Dodgers, 9-1. Brandon Webb picked up the win, allowing just one run on 4 hits over 7 innings.
  • San Francisco’s 1-2-3 hitters each had 2 hits, and Pedro Feliz smacked a 1st inning 3-run home run as the Giants defeated the Rockies, 9-5. Troy Tulowitzki went 4-for-4 but failed to turn a triple play for Colorado
