Jason Varitek had 2 RBI, and Julio Lugo’s infield single proved to be the walk-off hit. Jeremy Guthrie’s brilliant performance was wasted for Baltimore. Guthrie pitched 8 1/3 innings and allowed just one unearned run on 3 hits.

  • Gary Matthews Jr. had 3 hits, belted 2 home runs, and drove in 4 runs, but that wasn’t enough to hold off the Rangers who rallied for a walk-off win over the Angels, 7-6. Ian Kinsler, Brad Wilkerson, and Nelson Cruz (the walk-off shot) each hit home runs for Texas.
