  • Casey Blake hit a home run, and Josh Barfield had 2 RBI to lead the Indians to a 5-2 win over the Mariners. C.C. Sabathia allowed just one run over 5 innings for Cleveland. Jose Vidro went 3-for-5 for Seattle.
  • Scott Hatteberg went 3-for-4 with 2 doubles, a home run, and 4 RBI, and Javier Valentin hit a pinch-hit 2-run homer in the 8th inning as the Reds rallied to beat the Nationals, 8-7. Ryan Zimmerman, doubled, homered, had 3 hits and drove in 2 for Washington.
  • Gerald Laird hit a grand slam and drove in 5, and Sammy Sosa added 2 doubles and 3 RBI to lead the Rangers to a 14-4 rout over the Twins. Vicente Padilla allowed 2 runs in 5 2/3 innings for Texas in the victory.
  • Darin Erstad had 3 hits and 3 RBI, and Paul Konerko went 3-for-5 with 3 runs scored as the White Sox defeated the A’s, 8-5. Nick Swisher had 3 hits and drove in all 5 runs for Oakland in the loss.
  • Carlos Quentin hit 2 home runs and drove in 5, and Chris Snyder collected 3 hits to help the Diamondbacks sneak past the Rockies, 6-5. Willy Taveras had 3 hits, and Kaz Matsui hit 2 doubles and drove in 3 for Colorado.
  • Rickie Weeks went 4-for-5 with a double and 3 RBI, and Prince Fielder hit 2 solo home runs as the Brewers pounded out 13 hits on their way to a 9-5 win over the Dodgers. Jeff Kent homered and drove in 2 for Los Angeles.
  • Noah Lowry pitched 7 scoreless innings, and Ryan Klesko doubled and homered as the Giants shut out the Astros, 4-0. Chris Sampson allowed just one run on 5 hits in 6 innings for Houston
