  • Casey Blake reached base 3 times, scored twice, and homered, and Josh Barfield and Victor Martinez added big flies as the Indians beat the Tigers, 7-4. Carlos Guillen had 3 hits, a double, and a triple, and Ivan Rodriguez contributed 3 hits as well for Detroit.
  • Paul LoDuca went 4-for-5, and New York scored 5 times in the 9th inning as the Mets rallied to beat the Marlins, 6-2. Orlando Hernandez pitched 6 scoreless innings for New York while Sergio Mitre did not allow an earned run in 7 2/3 innings for Florida.
  • Dan Haren allowed just one run on 2 hits over 7 innings, and Nick Swisher homered and drove in 2 runs as the A’s edged the Orioles, 3-2. Erik Bedard pitched 7 strong innings for Baltimore.
  • Jason Bay and Xavier Nady each had 2 hits, a home run, 2 runs scored, and 2 RBI as the Pirates exploded for 8-9th inning runs to beat the Reds, 10-4. Paul Maholm allowed 2 runs in 7 innings for Pittsburgh, and Aaron Harang allowed 2 runs on 5 hits over 8 innings for Cincinnati.
  • Jimmy Rollins doubled twice, reached base 3 times, and scored 3 times, and Shane Victorino added 3 hits as the Phillies rallied late to beat the Braves, 8-3. Jamie Moyer allowed just 2 earned runs on 5 hits in 7 innings of work for Philadelphia.
  • David Ortiz and Manny Ramirez each reached base 3 times and doubled, and Jason Varitek and Dustin Pedroia each drove in 2 runs as the Red Sox knocked off the Rangers, 10-6.
  • Adrian Beltre and Yuniesky Betancourt each had 3 hits, and Ichiro Suzuki reached base 3 times, homered, and drove in 2 runs as the Mariners hammered Gil Meche and the Royals, 10-2. Meche left the game in the 5th inning with stiffness in his lower back.
  • Michael Cuddyer homered and drove in 2 runs, and Luis Castillo reached base 3 times and scored 3 runs to help the Twins pull out a close one against the Blue Jays, 4-3. Alex Rios had 3 hits and a walk for Toronto.
  • Nook Logan hit 2 doubles and drove in 2 runs, and Brian Schneider homered and drove in 2 more as the Nationals squeaked past the Cardinals, 5-4. Albert Pujols went 3-for-4 with a home run and 2 runs scored for St. Louis.
  • Luis Terrero hit a 3-run home run, and Joe Crede had 2 hits and drove in the game winning run in the 9th inning as the White Sox nipped the Devil Rays, 5-4. Carl Crawford had 3 hits, and Elijah Dukes hit a 3-run homer for Tampa Bay.
  • Mark Reynolds went 5-for-5 with a triple, 2 home runs, 4 runs scored, and 4 RBI, and Carlos Quentin added 2 doubles, 3 hits, and 3 RBI as the Diamondbacks blasted the Astros, 13-3. Edgar Gonzalez allowed just one run in 5 innings for Arizona.
  • Kevin Kouzmanoff doubled, homered, and had 4 RBI, and Adrian Gonzalez contributed 3 hits as the Padres upended the Brewers, 8-6. J.J. Hardy reached base 3 times, homered, and drove in 2 for Milwaukee.
  • Matt Holliday had 3 hits, and the Rockies scored 5 times over the last 3 innings to come from behind and beat the Giants, 5-3.
  • Jeff Kent reached base 3 times, homered, and drove in 4 runs, and Nomar Garciaparra doubled, walked twice, and scored 3 times to lead the Dodgers to wild, 9-8, comeback win over the Cubs. Alfonso Soriano went 3-for-5 with 2 runs and 2 RBI, and Derrek Lee doubled twice and drove in 2 for Chicago. The Cubs rallied for 7 runs in the 7th inning of this game, only to see their bullpen fall apart and give back the victory by allowing 4 runs in the 9th inning to Los Angeles
