The New York Yankees sent pitcher Kei Igawa to the minors on Monday to make room on the roster for right-hander Matt DeSalvo. Igawa was optioned to Class-A Tampa.

Zumaya Done for 3 Months

The Tigers announced today that pitcher Joel Zumaya has sustained a ruptured tendon in his right middle finger. He suffered the injury warming up in the bullpen at Kauffman Stadium on Saturday evening. Zumaya is scheduled to undergo surgery in New York on Thursday. It is expected that he will be out at least 12 weeks.
Dr. Charles Melone is scheduled to perform the surgery. |
