• Miguel Cabrera hit a 2-run homer and knocked in the winning run in the 9th inning with a walk-off single as the Marlins nipped the Dodgers, 6-5. Andre Ethier had 3 hits for Los Angeles.
  • Omar Infante doubled, tripled, had 3 hits and drove in 4 runs, and Brandon Inge added 2 hits and 3 RBI to help lead the Tigers to their 8th win in a row, a 9-7 victory over the Mariners. Yuniesky Betancourt had 3 hits and 3 RBI for Seattle.
  • Jeremy Guthrie allowed just one run through 6 innings, and Miguel Tejada and Jay Gibbons each had 3 hits as the Orioles beat the Devil Rays, 8-3. Carlos Pena went 4-for-4 for Tampa Bay in the loss.
  • Andy Pettitte allowed just one run in 7 innings, and Alex Rodriguez hit a 2-run homer, collected 2 hits, and scored 2 runs to lead the Yankees to an 8-2 win over the Rangers. Hank Blalock had 3 hits and a walk for Texas.
  • Jason Varitek went 4-for-4 with a walk, homered and scored twice, and Josh Beckett pitched 7 strong inning for his 7th win of the year as the Red Sox dominated the Blue Jays, 9-2. Kevin Youkilis also had 3 hits and a home run for Boston. Toronto has now lost 7 straight.
  • Lance Berkman had 2 hits, hit a 2-run home run, and scored twice, and Carlos Lee added a 2-run shot as the Astros came from behind to beat the Reds, 7-6. Ken Griffey Jr. had 2 hits, 2 walks and hit a 2-run homer for Cincinnati.
  • Andruw Jones had 2 hits and drove in 2 runs, including the go-ahead run in the 8th inning, as the Braves rallied to defeat the Padres, 3-2. Anthony Lerew allowed just 2 runs on 2 hits in 6 innings for the Braves, while his counterpart, Justin Germano, pitched equally as well, allowing just one run on 3 hits over 6 innings for San Diego.
  • Jack Wilson tied the game with a sac fly in the 9th and later drove in the game winning run in the 15th inning as the Pirates outlasted the Cubs, 4-3. Jason Bay had 3 hits and Xavier Nady had 4 hits for Pittsburgh. Alfonso Soriano and Ryan Theriot each had 3 hits for Chicago.
  • Johnny Estrada had 3 hits, doubled, homered, and drove in 2, J.J. Hardy doubled and homered, and Prince Fielder hit a 3-run shot as the Brewers knocked off the Nationals once again, 6-4. Milwaukee has now won 5 in a row while Washington has dropped 7 straight.
  • Justin Morneau hit 2 home runs, the second of which was a 3-run walk-off shot in the 10th inning, to lead the Twins to a 7-4 win over the White Sox. Book Bonser pitched a solid game for Minnesota, allowing just one earned run on 8 hits over 7 innings. Javier Vazquez was equally as impressive. He gave up just one run on 4 hits in 7 innings for Chicago.
  • Scott Spiezio hit a 2-run double, and Adam Kennedy added a 2-run single to plate all 4 of St. Louis’ runs for the evening in the 7th inning as the Cardinals went on to defeat the Rockies, 4-1. Jim Edmonds had 3 hits for St. Louis, and Matt Holliday reached base 3 times for Colorado with 2 doubles and a single.
  • Chad Gaudin pitched brilliantly for 8 innings, giving up just one run on 5 hits, and Nick Swisher reached base 4 times and drove in 2 runs as the A’s beat up on the Royals, 6-1. Eric Chavez added 3 hits for Oakland, and Mark Teahen had 3 hits (including a triple) for Kansas City.
  • Adam Eaton gave Philadelphia a quality start, but Micah Owings did him one better as the Diamondbacks edged the Phillies, 3-2. Eaton gave up 3 runs on 7 hits in 7 innings. Owings scattered 5 hits and allowed just 2 runs in his 7 innings of work. Eric Byrnes had 2 hits, hit a home run, and drove in 2 for the Diamondbacks.
  • Casey Blake had 2 hits and drove in 2, and Victor Martinez had 2 hits, a home run, and 2 RBI to give starter Cliff Lee all the support he needed as the Indians shut down the Angels, 5-1. Lee pitched a complete game 3-hitter for Cleveland, allowing just one run while walking 2 and striking out 2.
  • Barry Bonds hit career home run #745, but it was Tom Glavine’s night to shine as the veteran left-hander pitched 7 strong innings to propel the Mets to a 4-1 win over the Giants. It was Glavine 294th career victory. Paul LoDuca had 3 hits, and Jose Reyes hit a double and triple for New York
