• Dan Fox comes up with a metric to attempt to quantify plate discipline. It’s a little in-depth, and I’m not sure I buy into all just yet, but it’s a great read and a very interesting topic.
  • Interesting article over at the Pittsburgh Post-Gazette that describes Bob Nutting’s response to BP Kevin Goldstein’s assertion that Pirates management denied a request to spend big money on draft day. Kevin won’t pull punches. Maybe we’ll get names out of this soon. Stay tuned.
  • Geoff Young reviews Phillip Wellman’s ejection from last week over at Knucklecurve. I know some of you guys don’t like it, but it’s funny nonetheless.
  • Curt Schilling talks about his near miss no-hitter on his site 38 Pitches. Again, you may dislike Schilling, but this stuff is very interesting. It’s not often you get this close to the action.
  • SB Nation has a new home page and it looks GREAAAAAAAAAAAAATTTT! Nice job guys!
  • The Hardball Times has updated Winshares through June 9th
  • It’s a sad day for television…the last episode of the Sopranos. Matt over at Metsblog.com has the right idea. Unfortunately, I never got to consistently watch the show, so count on me to buy the massive multi-season collectors edition of the box set!
  • This is a joke. I’ve spoken with Gary Sheffield, and all the guy wants to do is start things up. He’s defensive right out of the gate. You want me to trust that Gary has the right idea about things? Sorry. I’ll trust Torii Hunter a little more, but not much. Isn’t he the one who said Joe Mauer won’t play hurt? Nice job Torii. What’s wrong with these guys?
