Wow! If you didn't get a chance to watch UC Irvine come from behind and defeat ASU in extra innings, you missed one heck of a game. I'll have more details later but this was one of the most exciting 2 days of baseball I've watched in some time.

Prized Milwaukee Brewer pitcher Yovanni Gallardo made his MLB debut tonight against Barry Bonds and the San Francisco Giants. Gallardo was 8-3 with a 2.90 ERA in 77 innings pitched at Triple-A Nashville. The injury to Brewer's lefty Chris Capuano opened a door for the young gun.
Gallardo pitched a strong 6 1/3 innings for Milwaukee giving up 4 hits, 3 runs and striking out 4. The twenty-one year old from Michoacan, Mexico showed major league control with a low 90s fastball, change-up and a curve ball with a lot of movement. His only big mistake on the night was on a pitch to Pedro Feliz giving the Giant's third baseman his 10th home run of the year. He did however earn the victory as the Brew Crew provided enough offense to beat San Francisco 5-4. Yovanni's performance gives manager Ned Yost and The Milwaukee Brewers a tough decision when Chris Capuano comes off the disabled list. Capuano suffered a strained groin and was placed on the 15-day disabled list, retroactive to June 9. |
