The Angels optioned struggling starting pitcher Ervin Santana to AAA Salt Lake City on Wedneday reports the Los Angeles Times. Santana (5-11) had a 12.56 earned-run average in his last three starts and had not won a decision since June 9. The 24-year-old leads the American League in losses, home runs allowed (23), runs (82) and earned runs (76).
