In a rather bizarre move, the Houston Astros are sending reliever Dan Wheeler and cash considerations to the Devil Rays for infielder Ty Wigginton. I realize that Morgan Ensberg is not exactly tearing things up, but the Astros also have Mike Lamb. Where do all these guys fit in? You have to believe a move involving Mark Loretta is in the works.

Cincinnati Reds executive vice president and general manager Wayne Krivsky today announced the acquisition of IF Jorge Cantu, OF Shaun Cumberland and cash from the Tampa Bay Devil Rays in exchange for RHP Calvin Medlock, LHP Brian Shackelford and future considerations. Cantu, who is on the 40-man roster, will be optioned to Class AAA Louisville. The Bats and Tampa Bay's Durham affiliate are scheduled to play a doubleheader tonight at Louisville Slugger Field. Cumberland will be assigned to Class AA Chattanooga. Not really sure I understand this move, but the Reds certainly didn't break the bank for Cantu.

Less than a week after The Angels traded back-up Jose Molina, catcher Mike Napoli will be headed back to the disabled list. The strained right hamstring occurred in the first inning Friday as Napoli was successful in stealing second base.
Jeff Mathis will start in the interim. Ryan Budde (Triple-A Salt Lake) will be called up to back-up Mathis.
