The Twins and Cuddyer have come to an agreement on a 3 year contract worth $24 million. Minnesota has also agreed to terms with first baseman Justin Morneau on a six-year contract (worth a reported $80 million).

Morneau, 26, batted .271 (160-for-590) with 31 doubles, three triples, 31 home runs and 111 rbi in 157 games with the Twins last season.  He became the first Twin since 1986-87 (Gary Gaetti) to have back-to-back 30-homer seasons and the fourth Twin to have a three-homer game (July 6 at Chicago).  In 2007, Morneau ranked among American League leaders in sacrifice flies (T-4th), home runs (T-5th), at-bats per home run (8th) and rbi (9th).  The 2006 American League Most Valuable Player has a career batting average of .276 (567-for-2058) with 112 doubles, eight triples, 110 home runs and 394 rbi.  His 110 career home runs are tied for 14th on the Twins All-Time home run list.

Cuddyer, 28, batted .276 (151-for-547) with 28 doubles, five triples, 16 home runs and 81 rbi in 144 games with the Twins last season.  His 19 outfield assists in 2007 led the American League and were tied for the Major League lead.  Drafted by the Twins in the first round (9th overall) of the 1997 First-Year Player Draft, Cuddyer has a career batting average .270 (567-for-2097) with 126 doubles, 17 triples, 72 home runs and 299 rbi in 619 games.  His four career grand slams are tied for the sixth most in Twins history.
