The New York Mets welcomed the new ace of their staff today, Johan Santana. New York rolled out the red carpet for Santana who was introduced to some 200 members of the media by General Manager Omar Minaya. On hand for the presentation were owners Fred and Jeff Wilpon, manager Willie Randolph, and third baseman David Wright. I'll have more notes, quotes, and pictures this evening from today's press conference introducing Johan Santana.

The Blue Jays held their annual "State of the Franchise" gala for season's ticket holders at the Toronto Hilton on Wednesday, and both myself and fellow Baseball Digest Daily writer Pete Toms were on hand.
