Mark Teixeira went deep for the Braves on Wednesday

 

  • Atlanta pitchers threw no-hit ball for 8 innings, and Mark Teixeira homered and drove in 2 runs as the Braves beat the Indians, 4-1. Jair Jurrjens started and was perfect for Atlanta for 3 innings.
  • Andy Phillips tripled and drove in 3 runs, and Jolbert Cabrera had 2 hits and 2 RBI as the Reds edged the Red Sox, 7-6, despite the fact that Boston collected 17 hits. Homer Bailey and Jon Lester faced off in this game and neither was particularly impressive.
  • Marcus Thames doubled, homered, walked, and drove in 2 runs, and Curtis Granderson tacked on 2 hits and scored twice to lead the Tigers split squad to a 4-1 win over the Pirates.
  • Rick VandenHurk tossed 3 scoreless innings, and Luis Gonzalez (the old one) collected 2 hits and drove in a run as the Marlins nipped the Orioles, 2-1.
  • Ty Wigginton and Victor Diaz each had 2 doubles, and Jose Cruz Jr. picked up 3 hits and 2 RBI as the Astros doubled up the Rays, 8-4. B.J. Upton had 2 doubles and 2 RBI for Tampa Bay.
  • Carlos Guillen hit 2 home runs, and Magglio Ordonez added a solo shot of his own as the Tigers cruised to a 6-2 win over the split squad Phillies. Justin Verlander pitched 3 scoreless innings and allowed just one hit for Detroit.
  • Brett Myers went 4 scoreless innings, and Chase Utley and Carlos Ruiz each doubled and drove in 2 runs to help the Phillies cruise to a 6-1 win over the Blue Jays. Roy Halladay allowed just one hit over 3 innings for Toronto.
  • Pete Orr homered and drove in 2 runs, and Elijah Dukes tripled and added 2 RBI as the Nationals squeezed out a 6-5 win over the Cardinals. Ryan Ludwick had 3 hits and a home run for St. Louis.
  • Anderson Hernandez and Fernando Martinez each reached base 3 times, and Johan Santana pitched 3 solid innings as the Mets rallied to walk-off with a 3-2 win over the Dodgers.
  • Delmon Young and Jacque Jones each blasted home runs, and Alejandro Machado added 2 RBI as the Twins came back to defeat the Yankees, 7-5. Robinson Cano went 3-for-3 for New York.
  • Erik Bedard pitched 3 strong innings, and Yuniesky Betancourt went 3-for-4 at the plate as the Mariners held off the Angels, 6-5. Torii Hunter had 2 more hits for Los Angeles today.
  • Jermaine Dye launched his first home run of the spring, and Brian Anderson belted a 2-run shot in the 9th inning as the White Sox downed the Rockies, 5-2. Mark Buehrle allowed just one hit and one walk in 4 scoreless innings for Chicago.
  • Carlos Zambrano blanked Arizona for 3 innings and inflicted further damage by hitting a solo home run, but the Cubs couldn't hold off the Diamondbacks as the Snakes went on to win, 5-4.
  • Justin Huber had 2 hits, Ryan Shealy hit a home run, and Gil Meche picked up his second win this spring by shutting out San Francisco for 3 innings as the Royals took care of the Giants, 3-1. Barry Zito rebounded from horrific start last week to give San Francisco a solid outing.
  • Craig Counsell reached base 3 times and drove in 3 runs, and Manny Parra did not allow a run while striking out 4 over 3 innings as the Brewers beat up on the Rangers, 12-6.
  • Mike Sweeney went 3-for-3 with a walk, 2 doubles, 3 RBI, and 3 runs scored, and Emil Brown contributed 2 hits and 2 RBI to propel the A's to a 15-4 win over the Padres.
  • Hanley Ramirez went 2-for-3 with a walk, a home run, and 3 RBI, and Ricky Nolasco tossed 3 scoreless innings, but that couldn't stop Skip Schumaker (triple and 2 RBI) and Jaime Gracia (3 innings, 1 hit) from lifting the Cardinals to a 5-4 win over the Marlins.
