  • Aramis Ramirez doubled, homered, and drove in 2 runs and Felix Pie singled in 2 runs in the 15th inning as the Cubs outlasted the Pirates, 6-4, in a marathon game in Pittsburgh. Ryan Dempster was brilliant for Chicago, pitching 7 scoreless innings of one-hit ball. Zach Duke was pretty solid for Pittsburgh as well, allowing just one run in 7 innings of work.
  • Mark Ellis went 4-for-5, and Bobby Crosby collected 3 hits, 2 doubles, and drove in 3 runs as the A's rallied for 4-9th inning runs to defeat the Blue Jays, 6-3. Shannon Stewart singled and walked 3 times for Toronto.
  • Mike Pelfrey threw 5 solid innings, and the Mets offense took advantage of 9 walks and 4 errors by the Philadelphia defense as they pushed their way to an 8-2 win over the Phillies. New York was actually out-hit 8-5 in the contest.
  • Albert Pujols went 3-for-4 with 2 home runs, a walk, and 3 RBI, and Rick Ankiel added 2 hits and 2 RBI to lead the Cardinals to a 6-4 win over the Astros.
  • Brendan Harris had 3 hits, walked, and scored 3 runs, and Jason Kubel hit a grand slam to provide Scott Baker and the Twins all the offense they would need to knock off the White Sox, 12-5. Joe Crede had another solid night for Chicago. He doubled, homered, and drove in 2 runs in a losing cause.
  • Augie Ojeda collected 3 hits, and Eric Byrnes went 3-for-5 and put Arizona ahead for good with a 2-run single in the 6th inning as the Diamondbacks edged the Dodgers, 4-3.
  • Edgar Renteria went 3-for-4 with a walk, 2 doubles, 2 RBI, and 2 runs scored, and Carlos Guillen reached base 3 times, homered, and scored 3 times as the Tigers won for the first time this season by beating the Red Sox, 7-2.
  • Mike Jacobs hit 2 home runs and drove in 4, and Dan Uggla and Jeremy Hermida each had 2 hits and 2 RBI as the Marlins crushed the Nationals, 10-4.
  • Jamie Burke went 2-for-3 with a walk, a home run, and 3 RBI, and Jarrod Washburn allowed just one run on 6 hits over 7 innings as the Mariners cruised to a 7-1 win over the Rays. Willy Aybar had 3 hits, including 2 doubles, for Tampa Bay in defeat.
  • Corey Patterson doubled twice, homered, drove in 2 runs, and scored 2 runs, and Adam Dunn reached base 3 times, homered, had 3 RBI and scored twice as the Reds stopped the Brewers, 12-4.
  • Zack Greinke pitched 8 scoreless innings, and John Buck singled and hit a solo home run to lead the Royals to a 4-0 shutout over the Yankees.
  • Ryan Spilborghs went 3-for-5 with a double, home run, 5 RBI, and 3 runs scored, and Yorvit Torrealba had 3 hits, a home run, and 4 RBI to help the Rockies to their third straight win over the Braves, 12-6. Brian McCann doubled, homered, had 3 hits and 3 RBI for Atlanta.
  • Jonathan Sanchez was brilliant for 6 scoreless innings, allowing just 3 hits while striking out 10, and Dan Ortmeier doubled in the winning run in the last of the 9th inning as the Giants beat the Padres, 1-0, in their last at bat for the second night in a row. Justin Germano pitched exceptionally well but suffered from a lack of run support. He allowed just 4 hits in 7 scoreless innings for San Diego.
