  • Brian Burress pitched 3-hit ball over 8 scoreless innings, and Guillermo Quiroz walked twice, homered, and drove in 2 runs as the Orioles defeated the White Sox, 5-1, in the first of 2 games in Chicago.
  • Nick Swisher reached base 3 times and hit a 2-run home run, and Brian Anderson had 2 hits, including an RBI single in the bottom of the 9th, as the White Sox walked off with a 6-5 victory over the Orioles in game 2 of their doubleheader.
  • Adam Wainwright tossed a complete game 5-hitter, and Skip Schumaker drove in the game winning run in the 9th inning to lead the Cardinals to a 4-3 win over the Astros. Lance Berkman hit 2 solo home runs for Houston.
  • Chase Utley collected 2 hits and scored twice, Ryan Howard blasted a 2-run home run, and the Phillies doubled up the Pirates, 8-4. Nate McLouth had 2 hits, homered, and knocked in 2 for Pittsburgh.
  • Derrek Lee reached base 4 times, scored twice, and drove in 3 runs, Ronny Cedeno added 3 hits, and Carlos Zambrano pitched 7 scoreless innings as the Cubs blanked the Nationals, 7-0. Mark DeRosa and Aramis Ramirez also added 2 hits and 2 RBI apiece for Chicago.
  • Adrian Gonzalez had 3 hits and 3 RBI, and Tad Iguchi launched a walk-off home run in the 13th inning as the Padres edged the Diamondbacks, 8-7. Iguchi reached base 3 times and scored 3 runs for San Diego. Micah Owings didn't have it on the mound for Arizona Saturday, but he did go 3-for-3 with a double and 2 runs scored at the plate.
  • Brendan Harris had 3 hits and scored twice, Joe Mauer had 2 hits and scored 3 times, and Michael Cuddyer hit a 3-run home run as the Twins roughed up the Texas bullpen on the way to a 12-6 victory over the Rangers. Josh Hamilton had 3 hits and 2 RBI, and David Murphy had 2 hits and 3 RBI for Texas.
  • Erik Bedard did not allow a run through 6 2/3 innings, and Greg Norton went 3-for-4 with a double and 3 RBI as the Mariners stopped the A's, 5-3.
  • Curtis Granderson doubled, tripled, and scored twice, Magglio Ordonez doubled twice and drove in 2 runs, and Armando Galarraga allowed just one earned run on 3 hits over 6 innings as the Tigers got by the Angels, 6-4.
  • Asdrubal Cabrera reached base 4 times, and Victor Martinez reached base 3 times and drove in the winning run with an RBI single in Cleveland's last at bat to lead the Indians to a 4-3 walk-off win over the Yankees. Johnny Damon had 2 doubles and 2 singles, and Derek Jeter collected 3 hits for New York.
  • Carlos Villanueva allowed just 2 runs over 6 innings, and Prince Fielder had 2 hits, 2 RBI, scored 3 times and put the Brewers ahead for good with a solo home run in the 8th inning to help the Brewers get past the Marlins, 4-3. Bill Hall also reached base 4 times for Milwaukee.
  • Edwin Jackson gave up just one run on 5 hits in 7 innings, and Akinori Iwamura blasted a 2-run home run in the 8th inning to spoil Clay Buchholz' shutout and give the Rays a 2-1 win over the Red Sox. The win was the 5th in a row for Tampa Bay. Buchholz was fantastic in his own right, allowing just 2 runs on 3 hits while striking out 9 in an 8 inning complete game for Boston.
  • Luke Hochevar yielded just one run in 6 innings, and Jose Guillen broke a 1-1 tie with a solo home run in the 6th inning as the Royals held on to nip the Blue Jays, 2-1. Toronto starter Shaun Marcum went 7 innings, allowing 2 hits and 2 runs in the loss.
  • Jeff Keppinger and Joey Votto each had 3 hits, Brandon Phillips drove in 3 runs, and Paul Bako homered and knocked in 2 to help the Reds beat the Giants, 10-9, in a slugfest by the bay. Fred Lewis went 3-for-4 with a triple, home run, and 3 runs scored, and Eugenio Velez had 2 hits, 3 RBI, and scored twice for San Francisco.
  • Matt Kemp hit a grand slam and drove in 5 runs, and Brad Penny threw 7 strong innings as the Dodgers cruised to an easy 11-3 win over the Rockies. Los Angeles scored 10 runs in the bottom of the first inning to rout Colorado starter Mark Redman.
