• John Danks allowed just one run on 2 hits in 6 2/3 innings, and Juan Uribe and Joe Crede each hit solo home runs as the White Sox snuck past the Indians, 2-1. The 2 home runs allowed by Cleveland's Jake Westbrook were the only blemishes on his record for the day.
  • Alex Gordan hit a 2-run homer, and Zach Greinke tossed 7 strong innings to lead the Royals to a 4-1 win over the Tigers and a sweep of the 3 game series in Detroit. Brandon Inge reached base 3 times and homered for the Tigers in the loss.
  • Ervin Santana gave up just 2 runs on 4 hits over 6 innings, and Gary Matthews Jr., Mike Napoli, and Torii Hunter each went deep as the Angels edged the Twins, 5-4. Joe Mauer had 2 doubles, 2 RBI and a walk for Minnesota.
  • Kosuke Fukudome reached base 3 times, doubled, and scored 2 runs, and Aramis Ramirez homered and scored twice to give Ryan Dempster the run support he and the Cubs would need to defeat the Brewers, 6-3. Dempster yielded just one earned run on 3 hits in 6 innings.
  • Jason Bay was on base 4 times, but it was Xavier Nady who once again played the hero role by driving in Nyjer Morgan with the go-ahead run in the 10th inning as the Pirates rallied to knock off the Braves, 4-3. Chipper Jones had 3 hits, and Jeff Bennett replaced, the once again injured, Mike Hampton for Atlanta.
  • Dustin McGowan and Phil Hughes posted nearly identical lines for their respective clubs, and it came down to an RBI single by Bobby Abreau in the 8th inning to break a 2-2 ties as the Yankees took the rubber game of the series from the Blue Jays, 3-2.
  • Rookie Johnny Cueto was the story of the day, pitching 7 brilliant innnings while allowing just one run on one hit and striking out 10 to lead Cincinnati to a 3-2 win over the Arizona. Jeff Keppinger doubled, homered, and reached base 3 times for the victorious Reds. The Diamondbacks lone hit of the day was a home run off the bat of Justin Upton.
  • Geoff Jenkins ripped 3 hits, Ryan Howard was on base 4 times, and Pedro Feliz knocked in 2 runs to help the Phillies erase a 6-1 deficit and go on to beat the Nationals, 8-7, in 10 innings. Cristian Guzman and Jesus Flores each had 3 hits and 2 doubles for Washington in the loss.
  • Brad Thompson threw 6 2/3 scoreless innings, and Troy Glaus doubled, had 2 hits, walked, and drove in a run as the Cardinals blanked the Rockies, 3-0. Garrett Atkins accounted for 3 of Colorado's 7 hits on the day.
  • Scott Hairston went 3-for-3 with a double, triple, walk and 2 runs scored, and Kevin Kouzmanoff hit a 2-run home run as the Padres nipped the Astros, 3-2. Randy Wolf allowed just one run on 4 hits in 6 innings for San Diego.

Side note...of the 10 games played on Thursday, 7 were decided by one run.
