As Tuesday wrapped up, six major leaguers failed to go the distance thanks to minor injuries suffered during Tuesday's action in addition to an Oakland Athletics reliever headed to the 15-day disabled list.

Oakland Athletics reliever Andrew Brown landed on the 15-day disabled list after stomach pain in the morning turned into a trip to the hospital and an appendectomy that will keep the right-hander out of action until at least May 29th.  Oakland recalled lefty Lenny DiNardo from Triple-A Sacramento to replace Brown who was 0-0 with a 2.45 ERA in 17 appearances.

New York Mets outfielder Ryan Church suffered a concussion in the second game of their day-night double header when his head slammed into the right knee of Braves shortstop Yunel Escobar in a failed attempt to break up a double play.  Church was taken to the hospital as a precaution since it was his second concussion of 2008 (the first was suffered in spring training).  Escobar was also helped from the field with a knee injury and both players are currently listed as day-to-day.

New York Yankees shortstop Derek Jeter left their game with the Baltimore Orioles after being hit by a pitch by Daniel Cabrera on his left hand.  X-rays were negative and Jeter is day-to-day with a bruised hand.  At the time Jeter was hit, the Yankees were down 9-0 and went on to lose 10-2.  The inadvertent pitch led to retaliation by the Yankees who had LaTroy Hawkins throw a pitch inside and a second over the head of Luke Scott which caused umpire Chuck Meriwether to immediately eject Hawkins and led to both benches clearing while Hawkins and Scott jawed at each other.

The Los Angeles Angels suffered another injury when Erick Aybar left in the first inning after injuring his right hand after making a diving stop of an Alex Rios infield single.  The injury was diagnosed as a dislocated pinky and X-rays were negative and Aybar is scheduled to see a hand specialist on Wednesday to determine the severity of the injury.  Luckily for the Angels they expect to have Chone Figgins and Howie Kendrick back by the end of the week.

In the midst of another poor outing, Milwaukee Brewers reliever Eric Gagne left with stiffness in his right shoulder after another poor outing on Tuesday.  Gange entered the Brewers-Pirates contest with a 7-0 cushion and gave up 2 runs on 2 hits and 2 walks in 2/3 innings before complaining of stiffness.  Gagne was removed and later compared the stiffness to soreness after a long workout.  The severity of the injury is undetermined and more information should be available on Wednesday.

Colorado Rockies outfielder Brad Hawpe left with a cramp in his right hamstring and is listed as day-to-day.
