• Hideki Matsui went 3-for-5 with 2 RBI and 3 runs scored, Jason Giambi reached base 4 times, Robinson Cano drove in 3 runs, and Shelley Duncan hit a 3-run home run as the Yankees demolished the Mariners, 13-2. Adrian Beltre and Jose Vidro had 3 hits apiece for Seattle.
• Roy Halladay pitched a complete game 4-hitter, Lyle Overbay went 3-for-3 with a walk, and Marco Scutaro drove in 4 runs as the Blue Jays beat the Royals, 7-1.
• Barry Zito gave up one run in 6 1/3 innings, Benjie Molina went 3-for-5 with a home run and 2 RBI, and Aaron Rowand reached base 3 times and drove in 3 runs as the Giants stopped the Marlins, 8-2. Dan Uggla doubled and homered for Florida.
• Odalis Perez allowed just one run over 5 innings, and Jesus Flores knocked in 2 runs to lead the Nationals to a 5-1 win over the Brewers.
• Joe Saunders gave up just one run on 3 hits in 8 1/3 innings, and Torii Hunter hit his 6th home run of the season as the Angels ended the White Sox winning streak at eight, 3-1. Gavin Floyd was the hard luck loser for Chicago, allowing just 3 runs on 3 hits in a complete game effort.
• Frank Thomas went 3-for-4 with a home run and 2 RBI, and Mark Ellis belted a 3-run homer as the A's defeated the Red Sox, 8-3. Rich Harden struck out 8 in 6 strong innings for Oakland.
• Ryan Ludwick had 3 hits, homered, and drove in 2, and Adam Wainwright yielded just one run in 7 innings of work as the Cardinals edged the Dodgers, 2-1. Derek Lowe allowed 2 runs on 5 hits in 7 innings for Los Angeles.
• Mike Lamb reached base 4 times, tripled, homered, and scored 4 times, and Kevin Slowey threw 6 scoreless innings to lead the Twins over the Tigers, 9-4. Justin Morneau also had 2 doubles and 2 RBI for Minnesota.
• David Murphy had 3 hits, doubled, drove in 3 runs and scored 3 runs, Ramon Vazquez smacked 3 doubles and knocked in 2 runs, and Jarrod Saltalamacchia doubled and hit a grand slam as the Rangers slugged out a 13-9 win over the Indians. Grady Sizemore tripled, homered, walked twice, and had 3 RBI for Cleveland.
• Matt Garza tossed 7 1/3 scoreless innings, and Carl Crawford and Carlos Pena each drove in a run as the Rays blanked the Orioles, 2-0. Jeremy Guthrie pitched 6 2/3 strong innings for Baltimore in defeat.
• Doug Davis returned to the mound after cancer surgery and allowed just one run on 5 hits in 7 innings, and 5 different Arizona players hit home runs as the Diamondbacks destroyed the Braves, 11-1.
• Hunter Pence hit 2 solo home runs, and Brandon Backe gave up just one run in 7 1/3 innings to help the Astros get by the Phillies, 4-3. Pat Burrell doubled and homered for Philadelphia.
• Garrett Atkins had 3 hits, homered, and drove in 2, and Matt Holliday homered in the 9th inning to tie the game and singled in the 13th inning to win the game as the Rockies walked off with a 6-5 victory over the Mets. Carlos Delgado doubled, homered, and had 2 RBI for New York.
• Edinson Volquez struck out 12 in 6 brilliant innings, and Adam Dunn capped a late inning comeback by hitting a solo home run off of Trevor Hoffman in the 9th inning as the Reds stunned the Padres, 3-2.
