- Mike Fontenot and Aramis Ramirez hit home runs, and Jim Edmonds added 2 solo shots...all in the same inning...as the Cubs exploded for 9 runs in the 4th on the way to an 11-7 win over the White Sox. Eric Patterson had 3 hits, and Ramirez finished with 4 RBI for the Cubs. Jermaine Dye had 2 hits, a homer, and 3 RBI, and Carlos Quentin went 3-for-4 with a walk for the White Sox.
- C.C. Sabathia struck out 10 while allowing just one run over 7 innings, and Jhonny Peralta singled and doubled twice to lead the offense and help the Indians put up 6 runs in the 11th inning on the way to a 7-2 win over the Dodgers. Chan Ho Park gave up one run on 3 hits while striking out 9 in 5 innings for Los Angeles.
- Edwin Jackson tossed 6 1/3 solid innings, Justin Ruggiano went 2-for-3 with a solo home run, and Gabe Gross doubled in 2 runs in the bottom of the 9th to give the Rays a 4-3 walk-off victory over the Astros. Carlos Lee was on base 3 times, homered, and scored twice for Houston.
- Vlad Guerrero went deep twice, Erick Aybar smacked a 2-run homer, and Joe Saunders shut down the Philadelphia bats for his 11th win of the season as the Angels beat the Phillies, 6-2.
- Jose Bautista went 3-for-3 with a 2-run home run, and Jason Bay and Raul Chavez added 2-run shots of their own as the Pirates doubled up the Blue Jays, 6-3.
- Geoff Young favorite Mike Aviles went 3-for-4 with 2 RBI, Jose Guillen hit a 2-run home run, and Gil Meche gave up just one earned run while striking out 7 in 5 2/3 innings as the Royals outscored the Giants, 5-3.
- Ubaldo Jimenez pitched 2-hit ball for 8 innings and went 2-for-3 at the plate, and Colorado rallied for 6 runs in the 5 inning off Pedro Martinez as the Rockies downed the Mets, 7-1.
- Daryl Thompson tossed 5 scoreless innings in his major league debut, and Brandon Phillips, Corey Patterson, and Edwin Encarnacion each drove in 2 runs as the Reds blanked the Yankees, 6-0.
- Troy Glaus hit a grand slam, and Aaron Miles collected 2 hits, a home run, and 2 RBI to lead the Cardinals to a 9-3 upset of the Red Sox.
- Jair Jurrjens threw 6 strong innings, Mark Teixeira was on base 3 times, and Brian McCann looped a 9th inning bases loaded, broken bat single into center field to give the Braves a 5-4 walk-off win over the Mariners. Yuniesky Betancourt had 2 hits and 3 RBI for Seattle.
- Seth McClung kept Milwaukee in the game for 6 2/3 innings, and Corey Hart belted a 2-run home run as the Brewers held off the Orioles, 3-2.
- Nick Blackburn was brilliant, allowing just one run on 3 hits over 7 innings, and Brian Buscher drove in 2 as the Twins rallied for 6 runs in the 7th inning to knock off the Diamondbacks, 6-1.
- Ian Kinsler walked 3 times, homered, and scored 2 runs, Ramon Vazquez went 3-for-4 with a walk and 3 RBI, and David Murphy added 2 hits and drove in 3 runs as the Rangers pummeled the Nationals, 13-3. Michael Young also had 3 hits for Texas, and Dmitri Young collected 3 hits for Washington.
- Hanley Ramirez walked twice, doubled, stole 2 bases, and scored 2 runs, and Dan Uggla laced a 3-run double in the top of the 9th inning to rally the Marlins past the A's, 6-4.
- Magglio Ordonez reached base 3 times, hit a home run, and drove in 2, and Marcus Thames went deep to lead a 3-run 7th inning for Detroit as the Tigers came from behind to surprise the Padres, 7-5.
