- Kevin Millwood allowed one run over 5 innings, and Ian Kinsler singled, doubled, walked twice, and scored the winning run off Mariano Rivera in the 9th inning to give the Rangers a 3-2 win over the Yankees.
- Jack Wilson went 3-for-5 with an RBI triple, and Adam LaRoche singled, doubled, walked twice and drove in a run as the Pirates held on to defeat the Reds, 6-5, in 11 innings. Brandon Phillips went 3-for-4 with a home run and 4 RBI for Cincinnati.
- Russell Martin singled, doubled, homered, drove in 3 runs, and scored 3 runs, and Jeff Kent walked twice, doubled, and hit the game winning home run in the top of the 11th inning to break a 6-6 tie and send the Dodgers to a 7-6 win over the Astros. Carlos Lee had 4 hits and 2 RBI for Houston.
- Chicago's John Danks and Cleveland's Cliff Lee battled it out for 8 innings, and it took an Alexei Ramirez home run and an Orlando Cabrera RBI single in the bottom of the 10th inning to finish off Cleveland as the White Sox walked-off with a 3-2 win over the Indians.
- Aaron Cook tossed a complete game 5-hit shutout, and Matt Holliday led the offense with a single, double, and 2 walks as the Rockies blanked the Padres, 4-0.
- Ervin Santana gave up 2 runs over 7 innings, and Garret Anderson launched a 2-run home run in the bottom of the 8th inning to put Los Angeles ahead for good as the Angels got by the A's, 5-3. Rich Harden had another solid outing for Oakland.
- Matt Cain struck out 10 while allowing just 2 hits over 8 scoreless innings, and Fred Lewis collected 2 hits and scored San Francisco's 2 runs to lead the Giants to a 2-1 upset win over the Cubs. Jason Marquis was the hard luck loser, giving up 2 runs on 4 hits in 7 innings for Chicago.
- Ramon Hernandez had 2 hits and 2 RBI, and Adam Jones plated 2 more runs as the Orioles hung on to beat the Royals, 7-5. Brian Roberts homered, stole a base and scored 2 runs for Baltimore. Alex Gordon doubled, hit a solo home run, and scored twice for Kansas City.
- Matt Garza was superb for 7 innings, allowing just one unearned run, and Dioner Navarro had 2 hits and 2 RBI to pace the offense as the Rays defeated the Red Sox, 3-1. Tim Wakefield pitched 7 strong innings for Boston but the Sox could not muster any offense against Garza. Tampa Bay now leads the Red Sox by 2 1/2 games in the AL East.
- Collin Balester allowed just one run on one hit in his 5 inning major league debut, and Ronnie Belliard doubled and hit a grand slam to power the Nationals past the Marlins, 9-6. Hanley Ramirez singled, hit his 20th home run of the season, and drove in 5 runs for Florida.
- Justin Morneau and Alexei Casilla each had 3 hits, and Craig Monroe went 2-for-3 with a 3-run home run as the Twins hit their way past the Tigers, 6-4. Carlos Guillen went 3-for-4 with 3 runs scored for Detroit.
- Carlos Delgado singled, doubled twice, and walked, Ramon Castro added 2 hits and 3 RBI, and David Wright went 3-for-4 with a double and a home run as the Mets bounced back to beat the Cardinals, 7-4.
- J.J. Hardy hit 2 home runs, had 3 RBI, and scored 3 runs, Corey Hart went 3-for-4, and Mike Rivera contributed 2 more hits and 2 RBI as the Brewers roughed up Randy Johnson and the Diamondbacks, 8-6. Conor Jackson went 3-for-4 with a homer and 3 RBI for Arizona.
- Adrian Beltre reached base 4 times, hit a 2-run homer, and scored twice, Yuniesky Betancourt picked up 2 hits and 2 RBI, and Willie Bloomquist knocked in the game winning run with an RBI single in the bottom of the 9th inning as the Mariners rallied to walk-off with a 7-6 victory over the Blue Jays. Adam Lind had 3 hits and 3 RBI, and Vernon Wells went 3-for-5 for Toronto.
